Why Eat Apples Raw?

Many people enjoy eating apples in a multitude of ways–apple pie, applesauce, apple bread or cake, apple-cinnamon muffins, or even just baking and eating them. However, those of you who eat apples raw experience some amazing benefits.

When eating a raw apple, you get higher levels of vitamin C and potassium–both important vitamins for a healthy body, especially the heart. Mix vitamin C and potassium with the amazing amount of antioxidants and heart disease will be more easily conquered.

By not cooking the apple, it retains its fiber, and fiber will help moderate your blood sugar levels and promote the health of your colon. Because they are high in fiber but low in calories, crunching into an apple or two a day can actually help you lose weight!

When you eat an apple, make sure not to peel it. The skin contains many of the important nutrients that make the apple so deliciously healthy!

So when you pick up some Honeycrisp, Zestar, or McIntosh from Apple Blossom, make sure you eat a few before baking them into that scrumptious pie! To keep your apples at peak quality, keep them in the fridge, ideally at 34 degrees fahrenheit. This will ensure when you bite into an apple it will be fresh and crunchy, and it will maintain its nutritional value.
